Visiting Second Baptist
We would love to have you join us for a visit. We know that attending a church if you’ve never been, haven’t been in a while, or just a new church, can be a little intimidating so we want to give you some information to help you feel at home when you come. At the bottom of each page is an opportunity to email us with any questions you might have or to simply let us know when you plan to visit. We hope to see you soon.
Sunday Worship
Welcome | We have two Sunday Worship services; 9am and 11am. These services are nearly identical and we have a great representation of our church available at both services.
Services | Our services consist of congregational as well as performed music. Our music is a great blend of both new and traditional worship music. Following the music is a time of teaching/preaching from Scripture. Many of our services are shown on Satilla Faith Channel on Vyve and ATC. They are streamed live on YouTube.
Children | We have nursery for babies and toddlers and offer a children’s church for children up to 5th grade in the 11am service. Following the music service the children leave for their lesson and fun. Children are always welcome in our services.
Entrance | We have two main entrances that are directly off the parking lots on either side of the building. There is plenty of handicap parking and flat entryways. These entrances will lead you directly to the worship sanctuary.
Information | If we can serve you in any way before you visit please let us know here.
Wednesday Night
Welcome | If you join us for a Wednesday night there are opportunities for the entire family. There are a lot of moving parts and one of our members or leaders will make sure that everyone gets to the spot where their group is meeting.
Supper | We provide a supper each week that our children and students meet. This is a great opportunity for families to leave one of the stresses of the night to us and we will make sure that everyone is fed well. This is a donation supper of $15 per family or $5 per person which allows us to provide a full meal for our kids and adults each week. We start serving supper at 5:45 and stop serving at 6:05. The menu for each Wednesday is printed in the previous Sunday’s bulletin.
Children’s Choir | Mike Carter leads our Children’s Choir group that meets on Wednesday evenings at 5. When they are finished they are taken to the Social Hall for supper.
AWANA | Beginning at age 2 our children are part of our AWANA clubs. The AWANA Clubs meet in 4 different age groups; Puggles, 2 & 3yo, Cubbies, Pre-K, Sparks, 1st, 2nd, & 3rd grade, Truth and Training (T&T), 4th & 5th grade. These groups have a game time, Bible story time, and a time to work on Scripture memorization. Second Baptist has been serving with AWANA clubs for over 23 years! AWANA circle games are some of the most fun and continue to be favorites of our older students as well. AWANA starts at 6:15 and ends at 7:30
Students | Students in grades 6 – 12 meet for games, Bible Study and group times. You can find their latest newsletter with events and information here. Student times on Wednesday night mirror those of AWANA; 6:15 – 7:30.
Choir | The adult choir meets for their rehearsals each Wednesday from 6:30 – 7:30
Prayer Meeting & Bible Study | Pastor Derwin Griffin leads a group of adults that meet each week in the main sanctuary for a time of prayer and Bible Study. This groups meets from 6:30 – 7:30
Sunday Bible Study Groups
Welcome | Each Sunday at 10am we have Bible Study Groups that meet on our campus. This part of our church ministry is what has been commonly known as Sunday School.
Children/Students | For our children and students we meet in several age-graded classes. These classes correspond to their school grade and allow students to learn in an environment that is comfortable for them. The younger children meet down in the main hall of the church and the older students meet upstairs in the same space where we meet on Wednesday evening.
Adults | For our adults we have a variety of classes that meet. These classes are loosely age-graded although many choose classes that may not completely correspond to their ages. Some of these classes are divided as men and ladies and other classes are grouped together. We would love to help you find a place to learn and develop relationships with others in our church.
Information | If you would like more specific information please message us and we will happily serve you.
