Second Baptist Church recently celebrated 25 years of offering UPWARD Basketball to our community!
At Second Baptist, we see UPWARD Basketball as more than just a game—it’s an opportunity to invest in the lives of young athletes and their families. Children develop valuable life skills through sports in a supportive and faith-centered environment.
What makes UPWARD unique?
- One practice per week and one game per week.
- Learning and memorizing Scripture verses.
- Encouragement from fans, referees, and coaches to grow both as players and individuals.
Our primary focus is on K3 through 5th grade, providing a positive and developmentally enriching sports experience. We aim to teach not only the fundamentals and rules of the game but also to foster an atmosphere of competitive encouragement where kids and parents can enjoy their formative years in sports.

Founded in 1995, Upward Sports is the world’s largest Christian youth sports organization. Their 360 Progression™ model is designed to develop athletes mentally, athletically, spiritually, and socially, shaping players who excel both on and off the court.
Currently, over 500,000 players across 2,000 churches in 47 states participate in Upward Sports leagues, camps, and clinics through their Recreation Division.
