Every kicked ball in a game is an invitation. You may be thrown out, the ball may be dropped, it may not be fielded–seemingly an infinite number of possibilities is there. However, if the ball is not kicked, there are only two possibilities: you are called out on strikes, or you advance to 1st base on balls out of the zone.
If you don’t kick, the possibilities are limited.
John said this to his friends in 1 John 1:8
If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.
However, when the ball is kicked, another reality becomes possible.
John followed the above with this encouragement in 1 John 1:9-10
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.
The hope of the world is found in the One who hears our confessions and makes realities we could not imagine come to pass.
